*** Please note that I have not been keeping this updated. I prefer not to do media events since I am simply not a public speaker.    So, by word of mouth, my book presents itself.   I always appreciate, and in fact cherish, any feedback I receive… It is always so personal, eloquent, and humbling. Thank you

LATEST NEWS AND MEDIA EVENTS:

April 2012:   My husband and I are very excited to be participating in the Hike for Hospice on May 6th 2012  in Picton. We are participating in loving memory of:  my cherished mom and dad, sister and mother-in-law. The link to “our page” is below if you would like to sponsor us. Many thanks!

March 2012:  My very dear elderly mother-in-law passed away in long term care facility. I was again very humbled, fortunate and comforted that I was at her bedside when she passed away ever so peacefully. The palliative care she received there was exemplery, and the kindness shown to family will never be forgotten! The staff went above and beyond, even in providing family with thermal pots of coffee, tea, sandwiches and cookies while we stood vigil. I can not re-iterate enough the pure compassion and kindness that palliative care bestows upon both our loved ones as well as family members!

February 10th, 2012:   Media event I was part of with Hospice Prince Edward held at Books & Company in Picton…..

December 2011:  I had a very special evening when a Hospice office which purchased numerous copies of my book asked me to attend the last class of their volunteer training to answer any questions they had on my book, which they had all read. Very special indeed, thank you!!!

November 2011:   My very dear sister passed away. I was very privileged and comforted that I was at her bedside throughout her last evening. In the long term care facility where she was, due to latter stage Alzheimers and cancer, she received wonderful palliative care which again re-inforced how passionate I am about palliative care for our loved ones.
November 2011:    If Only, but for one more moment…”  sub-titled “In-home Palliative Care. The Ultimate  Gift of Love for a Terminally Ill Loved One.”  is gaining interest and resource consideration from Hospice and professionals as well as laypeople. It offers readers insight into some of the physical, emotional and spiritual issues associated with terminal illness as well as palliative care and homecare services. I was both heartened and humbled to hear from a Hospice office that purchased numerous copies my book, that a copy will be given to their volunteers to read as well as clients.

Book Synopsis for the Media and for Recommended Reading Lists

“If Only, but for one more moment…” written by Susanne Gallant is a moving story of a daughters loving journey with her parents when they needed her the most, following their latter stage terminal cancer diagnosis. It is a journey of self discovery of the love, strength, and compassion within, while striving to bring comfort and joy to dying loved ones for their last months, weeks and days. It is a purposely kept condensed book so as to be a quicker informative read, and written in such a way that it is like sitting down for a coffee with a friend and being immersed in hearing about their personal story with their terminally ill loved ones.

Within the story in itself, a multitude of pertinent and valuable information can be found —- insight, tips, words of encouragement, and guidance throughout that may be very useful in preparing and guiding you in caring for your terminally ill loved one. There is very real and personal insight into some of the physical, emotional and spiritual issues associated with terminal illness that is so helpful to know beforehand. An understanding of the pure kindness of palliative care (term used for end of life care or life threatening illness) in the home, or home setting will be attained, yet it is equally beneficial and informative if not in the home.

This book was written to help prepare families overwhelmed following a loved ones latter stage terminal diagnosis. And to spread the awareness of Hospice and Palliative Care which ultimately can enable loved ones to remain in their own homes in comfort and with compassion for as long as possible.

Some will read “If Only, but for one more moment…” for comfort and guidance while hearing about one woman’s journey helping to care for her terminally ill loved ones. Some may read it as they have elderly loved ones in long term care. And yet others may read it as a novel for a heartfelt journey of love.

Author Bio for the Media

Susanne Gallant is very passionate about palliative care, especially in-home. She wrote this book to help prepare those overwhelmed following a loved one’s latter stage terminal diagnosis. This, the author’s first published book, was precipitated by her intense year-and-a-half involvement as one of the family caregivers for her terminally ill parents.

She enjoys spending most of her time, along with her husband, in Prince Edward County Ontario especially when their grown children, grandchildren, family and friends come to visit.
